Virginia hit 10 three-pointers in their 72-64 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday.

The Cavaliers (11-8, 2-3 ACC) had dropped three games in a row and five of their previous seven contests.

Georgia Tech was coming off a 35-point victory over Wake Forest and had won consecutive ACC games by 20 points or more for the first time in school history.

Virginia blamed their lack of defensive focus for their 76-60 loss to Duke on Sunday.

The Cavaliers held a nine-point lead with a little more than 16 minutes left to play.

Of the eight Virginia players who logged at least 14 minutes Saturday, four had less than two years of collegiate experience.

The Virginia Cavaliers received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-11 center Mike Tobey on Monday.

Tobey, out of Lakeville (Conn.) Hotchkiss, listed Maryland, Boston College, Boston University, Rider, Notre Dame, Fairfield, and Stanford as some of the schools that were at the top of his list in December.

Tobey's father, Ken, confirmed the news to Scout.com.

He is Virginia's first commitment for 2012.
